To assist businesses that have been impacted by the Omicron variant of Covid-19, the government has announced a new business support package.
Although businesses were not legally required to close on the announcement of Plan B, face masks were reintroduced, Covid-19 passes were required for some venues, and people were advised to work from home. These measures led to dramatic falls in the number of people attending Christmas parties, going to pubs, restaurants, and shows.
Business grants
Restaurants, hotels and pubs, are now eligible for a one-off grant of up to £6,000 per-property. The value of the grant is dependent on the property’s rateable value:
- Up to £15,000 = £2,700 grant
- £15,000 to £51,000 = £4,000 grant
- Over £51,000 = £6,000 grant
The scheme will close for applications on the 28th February, with payments being made by the 31st March.
Grants may be paid automatically, but we recommend you check your local authority website for advice on how to apply.
£100 million of discretionary funding has also been made available to English local authorities to support other businesses, including those who supply the hospitality and leisure sectors, again your local authority’s website will advise you on how to apply, note that this type of funding is normally available on a first-come-first-served basis.
